GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR BACHELOR OF 
PHYSIOTHERAPY COURSE

 

In the world of medical sciences Physiotherapy has been positioned on a vital pedestal in recent days as a branch having a direct bearing on patients especially orthopaedic patients. In India the colleges imparting education in this branch are very few despite of its tremendous demand and availability of ample jobs. Madhya Pradesh was no different and did not have a recognized college conducting a proper four and a half year Degree course in Physiotherapy. This lacuna was brought to the notice of the government which realized its importance and significance and granted permission vide Medical Education Dept. Bhopal order No. F-4/51/97/53/ME/I dated 26/07/97 to start this course under the self-financing scheme in M.G.M. Medical College and associated Hospitals Society, Indore. the Devi Ahilya University also gave it the proper affiliation. The syllabus of the course has been approved by the Faculty of Medicine of the Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya, Indore.

The course has been envisioned as a premier course, which nurtures, motivates and inspired excellence and brilliance in the students. It accustoms its students with the evolving contemporary education and future challenges of the field, equipping them with the necessary skills and knowledge to deal with these concerns and opportunities efficiently. This course in Physiotherapy is created to measure the highest standards of medical requisites of the field and thus is an academically demanding & intellectually stimulating endeavor for a very rich learning experience. The students shall receive the broadest spectrum of education which guarantees successful careers in the new millennium. A team of well qualified, experienced and dedicated teaching staff shall be the guiding force for the students to unearth their potential in education, personality and character development activities. In all they shall be provided a balanced set of inputs combining innovative ideas, theoretical rigor, conceptual clarity and practical relevance in all their teaching.

 

  1. The course of Bachelor of Physiotherapy is of four and a half years including six months duration of compulsory internship No stipend or remuneration shall be paid during compulsory internship.
  2. Educational Tour : This will be arranged in few good centers of the country for teaching & training. Students will pay for their lodging, boarding, rail fare and other expenses for this tour. This will be compulsory for all final year students.
  3. On successful completion of the course, the candidates will be awarded the Degree of B.P.T. (Bachelor of Physiotherapy) by Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya, Indore.
  4. A candidate seeking admission to the course must have passed Higher Secondary School Certificate Examination (10+2) or equivalent examination from a recognized Board/University with Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects. The CBSE pass students will be treated at par with other students.
  5. The selection for the course will be done on merit basis of the marks obtained in qualifying examination higher Secondary (10+2) or equivalent. The merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry and Biology only. In case of equal marks in merit list, preference will be given to the younger in age. Gape certificate, if any, will have to be attached with the admission form.
  6. To Qualify - A candidate must have at least 50% marks in General category and 45% marks in SC/ST/OBC category. 
  7. Age Limit -  No candidate shall be admitted to this course unless he/she has completed or will complete the age of 17 years on or before 31st Dec. of Dec.2002.
    [Explanation : For reckoning the age as aforesaid, the date of birth as mentioned in the certificate of Higher Secondary School Certificate Examination or in the mark-sheet of the said examination shall be deemed to be authentic and no other documentary proof, except in the following eventuality, in support of age shall be entertained. In case a candidate, who otherwise satisfies the domicile requirement and who on account of being with his/her parents in a foreign country, passes an examination abroad, certified by the School Education Department of the State Government as equivalent to the Higher Secondary School Certificate Examination in Madhya Pradesh, adequate alternative documentary proof to the satisfaction of the admitting authority will be entertained. ]
  8. There are total 32 seats for the course
  9. The distribution of the seats is as under :
    a) General               13 Seats
    b) N.R.I                   05 Seats
    c) Freedom Fighter   01Seats  
    d) Military Personnel 01 Seats
    e) Scheduled Caste  04 Seats
    f) Scheduled Tribe    05 Seats
    g) O.B.C.                03 Seats
    Note : 30% of total seats are reserved for girls.
  10. a) If seats allocated to different reserved categories remain vacant due to non-availability of candidates, these seats will be filled from the General category candidates waiting list on merit. Waiting list shall remain valid up to 31/10/2002. 
    b) N.R.I. vacant seats shall be filled up from sponsored N.R.I., or general merit list but in any case the same fee will be charged equivalent to Rs. 1.5 Lac in foreign hard currency.
